Poetic Fashion

Today, we want to reach out to those poets out there...We want to explore a very poetic fashion...

Poets express their deepest thoughts in every thing they write...Why not do the same with your clothes? For example, if you want to express how amazingly happy you feel that day, you can wear an outfit like this:

It's fashionable, yet extremely expressive. Or if your feeling sad about something, you could wear a grey crochet top, and a deep blue long skirt. It doesn't always have to be black. You could also wear dangly, teardrop earrings to portray tears that you're metaphorically shedding. Poetic fashion is about expressing the emotions you feel in the boldest way possible. Fashion in essence, is all about expressing yourself. So, all of our fellow poets; go out there and spread the word!!!!:)

Rock 'N' Roll

Rock and Roll
This is another style that relies on being loud. Rock 'n' Roll
makes people stand up and take notice. There are two basic styles in Rock 'n' Roll fashion.

All about neon colours and big jewellery. Huge rings and sparkly earrings and necklaces. Here are some ideas on makeup looks and clothes and accessories and stuff.

Since the accesories, for Rock 'n' roll are really exaggerated, the clothes are slightly played down. Denim and leather are an essential part of Rock n Roll. You can't have a Rock n Roll style without them. The clothes are usually emblazoned with spikes or studs, or a really ironic band logo. Shoes usually are spiked heels, or ankle boots.

                                     Printed Jeans

Common fashion piece among the celebrities .This spring trend made its way to the fall trend .In spring they are bright and have bold pattern while in fall they are subtle colour..These printed jeans are hard to get fed up of whether they are tie-dye, floral, splatter painted or star prints. The key to pulling off this trend successfully is by wearing a more neutral, simple top.

                                   Thin Ankle Strap Heels

They are completely feminine  .This is great to complete that sophisticated look great for both during the day and night. These heels are in style and allow you to not only talk the talk but walk the walk . It is truly in style and   seen in many fashion brands such as  Diane von Furstenberg, Isabel Marant, Zara and many more.
How would you guys match these heels into the perfect outfit comment in the awesome box.

Healthy Dieting

OMG guys! So sorry we haven't had a proper post in weeks! Me and Sonali have just been really busy with school! Sorry:0

So here's the deal: You know all those really famous models with bodies to die for? Only half of them are anorexic or bullimic. Most of the really beautiful ones, like Karolina Kurkova are on HEALTHY diets, not non-existent ones. They eat right and they excercise.

Here are some tricks you should try:

Excercise

1. Don't overdo it, you may damage your body
2.Come up with an excercise routine
3.As for what excercise you want, I can't really help you there, but I stay tuned to Seventeen. In every issue there are some excercises to tune up your body. It only costs $3 SGD!:)

Food

1. Don't undereat or overeat: Neither one is very good
2.Don't diet during your exams, you can become super cranky
3. One trick is to not have any extra meals in between meals(except fruits) like breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner.
4. For tea, treat yourself to something healthy but yummy, like cereal, or cheese toast or maybe even a pao:)

On the Weekends
Relax the diet a little! Whats life without a chocalate milkshake here and there? Again don't overdo it, but have fun!:)

Please Note;
During stressful times, allow yourself a treat here and there. If you limit yourself too much while your stressed, you tend to become even MORE stressed!

Reinventing yourself with a new Haircut!

********************************************************************************

The Haircut
People do this alot. When they want a change, they cut off they're hair. Here are some examples of successfull reinventations:

Taylor Swift's straight, edgy bangs were a huge success!
Personally, this was my favourite of all of Rihanna's hairstyles. Shiny, straight and effortlessly!

Demi Lovato's darker, shinier locks look great, don't they?

Emma Watson's new haircut made waves. Some were upset she was leaving the whole Harry Potter thing behind, but I guess she wanted a change. Besides, it looks great!

If any of you are looking to reinvent yourself, get a new hairstyle, dye your hair a different colour..Take a few tips from these stars!

Taylor Swift wearing little white dresses on the red carpet
The white dress
Like Taylor Swift, I’m a huge fan of the little white dresses .They’re breezy, gorgeous, and effortlessly elegant – and no longer strictly limited to the beach or a fancy garden party. We are going to show some outfits to give you idea on how to wear them without looking like you’re about to dance around a meadow (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course).

Little White Dress: Night Out

how to wear a little white dress for night with studded wedges gold feather earrings rose gold cross body bag pearl bangle and orange cocktail ring
This look is all about goddess-like glamor. Add some height and sparkle with gold embellished wedge heels, and accessorize with gorgeous gold statement jewelry like a pearl-embellished bangle and feather earrings. Try out a quilted rose gold cross-body bag to add a touch of sophistication to the look. Tie everything together with a pop of color like this beautiful orange statement ring.

As soon as the summer months roll around, I crave simpler dressing, and outfits that are more relaxed, while still being style-conscious. How many times have I looked enviously at the guys around me, coveting their carefree summer style?
If you’re like me and you want to channel the ease of the clothes sported by the boys in your life, look no further and envy no more! The outfits below are dedicated to the many boys that you see every summer .

1. The Boy Best Friend: Cozy V-Neck

Outfit inspired by your guy best friend: Loose tee shirt, boyfriend jeans, slip-ons, easy wrap bracelet
He’s the guy who will gladly give you a ride when you need it, put a smile on your face, and act as your surrogate older brother.
To channel his relaxed style, don a super soft v-neck tee in a mellow color. Add a little flare to the outfit with patterned Vans, a wrap bracelet and worn-in boyfriend jeans (emphasis on “friend”). This outfit is perfect for hanging around with your friends – guys included!

2. The Summer Fling: Hot Summer Dress

Outfit inspired by the Summer Fling: Coral minidress, white clutch, neon yellow heels, statement earrings

A summer fling is always fun and flirty, so, accordingly, this outfit is based around a fun, flirty dress that’s sure to turn heads.
The gorgeous tangerine color of this frock is both on-trend and super flattering, and the lace inserts are both sweet and subtly sexy. With summery yellow wedges to complement the dress’ straps, you don’t need bright accessories – grab a simple clutch and some fun earrings and you’re good to go for a night on the town.

3. The Lifeguard: White     Shorts

Lifeguard-inspired outfits: White shorts, sandals, bracelets, lifeguard tee, or white shorts, blouse, belt, statement accessories and nail polish
Left: | Right:
“The Lifeguard” is what I’ve dubbed every crush-worthy guy you admire from afar, whether he’s a lifeguard, the guy working the ring toss at the boardwalk or even like that hot guy from the music video call me maybe (Drool.) Channel the vibe of this summer species in two different ways, using white short-shorts as a starting point:
(on the left) keeps it simple, with white short-shorts and a lifeguard-inspired print tank – a subtle nod to its inspiration, of course. Along with some beachy accessories like leather sandals, a thread bracelet and faux gauge earrings, this look is both comfortable and cool enough to wear while chatting up just about anyone.
(right), this outfit teams a bright eyelet blouse with white short shorts and strappy brown leather wedges. The look is completed by a simple brown leather wrap bracelet, a pretty gold seashell ring, and a trendy gold geometric necklace. Though this outfit maintains the image of a ‘hot lifeguard’ type with its bombshell silhouette and seashell ring, it also look polished, thanks to the geometric jewelry and leather wedges. This outfit works especially well with turquoise nail polish, which pops against the color of the blouse.

4. The Good Ol’ Gramps: Chambray Shirt

Grandpa-inspired outfit: Chambray button-down, white jeans, easy sandals, wrap bracelet, pendant necklace

You can convert your denim into a lightweight chambray shirt, and paired with white skinnies, a feminine locket, leather bracelet and shoes, along with easy breezy hair. This is a great summery outfit perfect for a casual dinner or nighttime bonfire.

5. The Perfect Possibility: Four-Season Boots

Outfit incorporating versatile boots: Yellow shorts, neon tank, military boots, bold necklace, turquoise ring
Last, but by no means the least, we have what I’ve dubbed the “Perfect Possibility.” He’s got all the charm and chemistry of the summer fling, but you feel like he might have staying power. Maybe – dare we say it? – he could even be potential boyfriend material.
Just as the Perfect Possibility can transition from your warm-weather days to the cooler months, you can rock these rad lace-up boots all year round. Don a wonderfully optimistic bright tank and cheerful yellow shorts, then add some edge with the boots. Tie the outfit together with  jewelry that picks up on the colors of your top, and a hippie-inspired leather headband.

Polka dots
has dominated the spring/summer 2012 runways. It has made a huge comeback with famous designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs offering spotted dresses ,pants and silk blouses. The print is often associated with retro 1950s  pin-up girls is a perfect complement to the femine trend.
But like any pattern you have to match its size to your body shape. The bigger and brighter the dot the less forgiving it is.Large dots will overwhelm petite frames or make slighty plum girls to look even plum,so I would suggest to go for smaller print such as pin dots. For those who are lean or lanky can afford to go for bigger dots as the round  print makes your figure look fuller.
If you are a novice start small such as by wearing polka dotted accessories.I suggest picking one signature piece and work your look around there.
You can wear a pair of polka dots sokings under a simple black to add a dash of quirkiness without going over the top.Or tie a polka dot scarf over your head but keep the rest of your outfit neutral tones to balnce the cute;girly look.
Pair it with bottoms in a brighter colour such as bright blue or red to keep your outfit from looking dull.Balance the peplum detail with slim cut pants .
If  you want to wear a blue polka dot dress avoid wearing red shoes and a hair band .The look is too retro and might ending up looking like minnie mouse. You can give it a modern spin by wearing a motocycle jacket.

BEING DRAMATIC!!!

Okay, you're no fool:being dramatic means being as loud as you can..With your outfit, your hair, your makeup. There are a few different types of dramatic styles you can fit into, though.

EmoDramatic
This is a sorta punk-rock fusion. You see this style ALOT in movies....
It looks a little like this:

So here's the drill for this style:
1. Hair cut in layers, smooth and straight at the bottom, big and loud at the top. Usually a few different colours.
2.Lots and lots of jewelwry, mostly skulls
3.Clothes usually denim, studs, skintight jeans, short skirts, doc martens and black. Throw in a tutu if you like.

Notice me Dramatic
 Usually looks like this:

1.This style is all glittery makeup, big eyeliner and dark lipstick
2.Clothes are usually business chic, bright coloured pantsuits...
3.Jewelwry mostly around the neck, thick, rhinestone covered necklaces should do.
4.Shoes are colourful and high. Heels are at least three inches thick.

Happy girl Dramatic

This is a fusion of punk and sweet girl...One of the most optimistic styles EVER!
Looks like this:

1.Puffy, tutu, like skirts/bright coloured balloon pants
2.Bright eye makeup, neon is best
3.Neon lips too
4.No streaks in hair!
5.Very simple shirt, to draw attention to skirt/pants
6.Any form of sneakers

Thats all the drama for today!!!Thanks for Reading!

Pastel

Wear Pastels With BlackBlack accents keep the look from getting too garden party.Wear Pastels as AccessoriesWear a neutral outfit-it makes pale accessories really pop.you've got to be careful not to over do it and come out of the house looking like an overgrown cupcake.
Combine different pastel shades and know your limits! Throw a few cream or grey items into the mix to tone down the overall effect.

Sports Luxe

Top trends for spring/summer 2012

With only a few months to go, it looked as if Olympic fever has hit the run-way. The Sport Luxe trend featured heavily at the spring/summer 2012 catwalks from colections such as the Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and Stella McCartney.mixing elements of utility sportswear with modernist shapes and luxury fabrics; think sleek and minimal with flashes of acid brights. The utility sports mood shouldn’t be taken too literally though – it’s more about accessorising with statement high heels than casual hi-tops.Our Alexander Wang black satin-jersey dress is the perfect way to rock the sports luxe trend with its draped detailing and a nude mesh cut-out racer-back. Contrast the figure-hugging style with Alexander McQueen’s Neon Flash Shoe Boots which are sure to add a jolt of of brightness high street for sports inspired dresses and heels that are more chic than sweaty.
Block colours, go faster stripes and brights along with sporty fabrics are what you're looking for.

Print and patternA cute floral can get a little tiresome so this spring/summer's modern take on floral fashion is a breath of fresh a
The designerss  at Blumarine were spot on with their fun infusion of neons and oversized flowers, whilst the delicate but new patterns
Look for large, almost 80s style, prints on everything from leggings to scarves. Wear clashing styles together for the ultimate look.
If you prefer not to go all out (and we don't blame you) then add a dash of modern 21st century floral pattern to your footwear.

friendship bracelets!  They look the perfect, for the summer casual outfits it certainly does add  pop of color to whatever it is that you’re wearing. It is also a wonderful gift to give your friends. They are  not only fabulous with your outfits but  also extremely easy to make.I  found this on a   website and found really cool so I decided to share it with you.

Where to buy:
Chain (approx. 4 inches)  // Ball Chain  (approx. 10 inches) //  Embroidery Floss (about one skein) // Embroidery Needle // Sharp Scissors
1.  Begin by firmly (double) knotting your floss to your chain. // 2.  Add your ball chain to the chain, and slowly wrap the floss around both the chain and ball chain. // 3.  Continue to wrap – you’ll see a beautiful pattern emerging! // 4.  When you get to the end of the first link, pull the embroidery floss through the second link and continue wrapping.
5.  Continue to wrap.  // 6.  As you get to the end of the chain, just keep wrapping along… // 7.  Continue wrapping until you get to the place where you started.  Knot your floss to the first end.  // 8.  Trim your knots, and you are nearly done.
9.  Cut off three pieces of floss, about 36″ long, each.  Take them together, and fold in half.  Thread the loop through the first link of chain.  // 10.  Pull the ends through your loop.  // 11.  Pull tightly, and braid for 2-3 inches, depending on how long you want the bracelet to be.  // 12.  Repeat on the other side… you’re done!

Trend alert

Peplum

The trend is peplum and the thing I personally like about peplum is that it literally adds flare to the feminine look which is so in this season .The peplum brings out  a sophisticated dramatic kind of look.

 How to wear it ?
Many  have the idea that a peplum  its hard to transform in that perfect outfit well hold  on that thought cause I am going to give you some tips that will change your mind about the peplum .

-         Throw a cropped jacket over a peplum for a fun  update  on the plain blazer

-         Add a gangster vide with a leather  biker  jacket  or ankle boots

-         Mind the volume .If you are slim but want curves choose a peplum that flares at a wider angle from the waist .Larger girls should opt for a more fitted peplums

Braids

Braids are extremely useful in everyday life. When you want to liven up a dull hairstyle adding a braid can give the hairstyle texture and make all your girlfriends go: "Hey, that is so cute!"
Here are a couple of links and ideas on how to do different types of braids:

1. Add a couple of silver beads into a tiny braid to give a tribal effect.
2.Take a lock of hair from the front of your scalp and braid it, then tie the rest of your hair into a ponytail and fasten the braid up at the side of your scalp with a cool hairclip.
3. Braid random bits of your hair up(at least four tiny braids will do) and leave the rest of your hair down. Casual and cute:)
4. If you have really long hair, take a lock of hair from the center of your scalp and braid it, then braid the rest  of your hair into a neat french braid and weave the other braid through the bigger braid.

Here are some really cool links on how to braid your hair:

The perfect ones

Maxi dresses

The maxi dress is a seasonal staple- especially if it comes in a beautiful floral print with summer inspired colors. You can dress it up with heels, a belt and gold jewelry for a summer wedding, or dress it down by pairing with a denim jacket and casual sandals for an outdoor summer concert. This dress packs easily, travels well and doesn’t need to be ironed making it a great choice for adding to your suitcase for a last-minute weekend getaway.

Stylish cover-up
Forget the days of lounging poolside in a boring towel. This summer throw on a stylish cover up add sandals and you’re ready to stroll the boardwalk. This cotton cover up is made out of light-weight cotton and will help keep you cool on even the hottest summer day.

Summer top

This summer every girl needs a stylish
summer top that you can dress up for the office under a blazer or dress down with jeans after work. This sleeveless style has a great vintage inspired print and would work well with whatever colour story you decide to play up.

The belt

Add shape to a flowy summer dress by pairing with a neutral belt. This belt has elastic in the back making it very comfortable to wear for all your summer activities. This belt would also help shape a basic t-shirt style dress!

Beaded jewelry

Last but not least- don’t forget about the accessories. Summer is the perfect time to bring out the beads! Carefully selected braclets , necklaces and earrings made from wooden beads are the perfect finishing touch to your stylish summer outfit.

Summer outfits

can be made more stylish and trendy by using some additions on traditional fabrics like use of tension putties, pearls, beads and sequins or threads. The elegance and style of long neck designs is also very popular to endow beauty and hot look. Adaptation of these neck designs are patches and selected for summer trends 2012.

For lawn prints use of lace and fabric math work is also very appropriate and trendy. Women use lace to make their lawn suits more stylish and hot. Many attractive and eye catching laces are very easily available that can be easily match with any lawn print and summer outfit. Several international brands are also using lace and fabric math techniques in their latest outfits and most importantly have fun and carry your style in confidene.

Date Outfits:How?

It's the beginning of Summer and that means extra dates with that extra special someone.:)
And that means both of you(maybe just the girls) will be scrambling to find new outfits to wear ever time you have to meet. Here is the tutorial on how to look just right on a budget.

Casual Dates

Clothes

Three Ideas for cheap amazing outfits
How to keep to a budget while coming up with a fresh outfit? Its a qusetion we all ponder everday.
Half tops are everywhere these days, and we girls can take advantage of that. Loose, old tees can easily be transformed from 'blah" to 'wahh" by simply cutting the bottom off. Where your  DIY half top with jeans or shorts and you immediately have a cheap, gorgeous outfit!

For a more rock and roll style, find a plain black skirt that you don't really mind cutting up, and pay a visit to a charity store and buy something thats made of leather. You can cut the leather up and so patches of leather onto your skirt so it looks something like this:
Cool right? Cheap too!:)
Remember that old too tight top that you threw at the back of your closet after it's hem reached below your boobs? Well, it's time to dig it out. Sew on some black, tranlucent material onto the hem of the top and cut the material in a zigzagging way.The cut of the shirt should be cinched,  like this:

Amazing vacation on a budget =)

It’s finally summer! School is out and you have booked your plane tickets or planned a road trip  here are some  tips .Not to worry – you can still have an amazing vacation on a buget.

Getting There & Finding Places to Stay

If you haven’t planned your accommodations yet, here are a few cheaper alternatives to an expensive hotel:

Sublet/rent an apartment or house. There are many websites from which you can rent apartments or houses for short periods of time for great prices. This is usually cheaper than a hotel, and not only do you save a ton of money on the price per night, but you can also cook your own meals. Just make sure the site you use is reputable!
* Take advantage of hotel points. See if you or your parents have any hotel, credit card, or airline points/miles sitting around, all of which might be able to be used to pay for hotels.

Restaurants

Even though you will be exhausted and starving when you arrive, do not eat at the first restaurant you see! This has been my curse. Every time I arrive in a new city, I end up eating at the first decent-looking restaurant I see and always get an expensive and disappointing meal. Make sure that you check the prices on the menu and maybe a review or two, no matter how tired and crappy you feel!
* If you are staying in a hotel, do not immediately take the suggestions of the concierge. They can give great tips, but remember that sometimes, the hotel gets paid for recommending certain places to guests, so they don’t always have your best interests in mind. Listening to the concierge is how my family ended up eating dinner on the outside deck of a boat on the Danube in Budapest in 90 degree heat. I was so nauseous and hot that I couldn’t even eat my ridiculously overpriced meal.
* Ask locals for suggestions. Whether it is a friend who has visited the area many times, someone you know who lives there, or even a person you meet on the street, find out what favorite restaurants and sights are. This way, you will end up at fabulous places that are off the beaten path and almost always cheaper than the touristy places in the center of town.
* Don’t eat at restaurants geared to tourists. These restaurants mark up their prices a lot. If you are in a foreign country and the restaurant you are looking to go to touts an English menu and is filled with English-speaking people, try something different!
* Cook your own food! You will not be missing out on any experiences, just saving money! In fact, you will be living even more like a local if you shop at the local markets. This way, you  get to experience the atmosphere for much less money.

Attractions

Research all of the museums and attractions and pick the ones that have the most to see.
* Go to museums on free days or use discounts. Usually, museums will have designated days and hours where there is no admission cost. Try to find out these times and go, so you will save money on admission costs. Also, you can buy packages of discounts or buy one ticket to get into a few places, so make sure you look up those deals.
* Don’t do the unnecessary attractions. Sometimes, super touristy things cost the most money, and your time could be better spent elsewhere. I know that instead of spending $30 to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris or ride the London Eye Ferris Wheel and look at the city from above, I would rather spend my time exploring the neighborhoods below and getting to experience how the locals live. After all, the best thing to do in a city can be to just pick a point on the map really far away and walk there – it doesn’t cost any money and you never know what you may find.

Shopping

Avoid the temptation to shop the chains. I always have fun checking out the international locations of stores like Zara and H&M, but I try not to buy too much there because all of them truly do have the same merchandise as the H&M in your local mall.
* For cheap finds, look for vintage stores, thrift stores, flea markets and other outdoor markets. You will find amazing items that are completely one of a kind, and usually very reasonably priced.
* Focus on buying accessories, not clothes. They can take up less room in your suitcase and can represent a lot more about a culture than clothes. Think about it – you can buy a nice white blouse anywhere in the world, but a necklace or ring crafted by local artisans? You won’t find that anywhere else. Plus, jewelry will last you forever with decent care.
